These are a few of my favorite things…
You’ve taken the time to consider me as your photographer or as a mentor within your own photography business, and that means everything to me — truly, it does. It’s an intimate decision, and one I don’t take lightly. I’m often times seeing the inside of your home, the dynamic of your family and the most authentic version of you.
So, it felt only right to give you a little behind the scenes view of my life as well — and the things that light me up when I’m not photographing amazing humans or teaching inspired creatives. So grab some coffee, a cup of tea, whatever may be your beverage of choice — get cozy, and scroll on down.
My husband Jonathan and I on our wedding day
Some random things that not many people, aside from my husband, family and closest friends may know…
I was a competitive figure skater and swimmer in my childhood & young adult life. Those are some of my most cherished memories, and water to this day is super healing for me.
My husband and I were actually good friends before we started dating. His childhood best friend is married to my childhood best friend, and we now live down the street from them!
I’m a published author of two books. One, a personal book of poems & essays for the healing, and a children’s book.
When I’m not holding my camera, you might be surprised that I spend my free time…
Hand building pottery — it’s one of my favorite things to do and is so therapeutic. My favorite things to make are mugs and little dishes.
Watercolor painting — my sister Britt inspired me to start doing this and it’s another great way to clear my mind and just create with no agenda. Abstract is my main direction, but I’m currently learning how to paint plants & florals.
I work as a freelance interior designer on the side! Through photographing and styling real estate and design projects, I was approached to freelance design for a developer where I assist their clients in picking out materials and furniture for their homes.
A list of my favorite things, in no particular order…
LETS TALK MUSIC…
I’m a die hard Taylor Swift fan, always have been! My mom took me to see the Faith & Tim Soul2Soul tour way back when, and Taylor was the opener before she went big. I’ve seen her live since then & it’s an incredible experience.
The running joke in my family is that I love slow music. My mom says it’s hazardous to listen to while driving because it could put you to sleep, ha. Yoste, Novo Amor are my favorites
I memorize lyrics after listening to a song once. I have no idea how. It just clicks.
NOW ON TO FOOD….
I could eat Mexican food for every single meal & be satisfied.
Cereal hits different as a midnight snack
Fun fact: I was vegan for 5 years! I loved every minute, but I grew out of the lifestyle. I’d say I eat 40% vegan still to this day.
I’m my father’s daughter and have a very big sweet tooth — especially if chocolate and peanut butter are involved.
I LOVE cooking, especially with my husband. Anything from ATK or the Half Baked Harvest cookbooks
MY (NOT SO) GUILTY PLEASURES…
A bowl of cereal in the middle of the night (as mentioned earlier)
A delicious, hot almond milk mocha from time to time
Bubble baths in the middle of the day
Sultry candles & incense. I’m not a flowery scent person, but love anything teakwood, sandalwood or palo santo.
Buying unique ceramic pieces (though I’m doing less of that now that I make my own!)
A gold old fountain Diet Coke here & there
Home Goods shopping. I love hunting for home decor & finding unique pieces on a budget (I help my friends do this for their homes all the time — so fun!)
BOOKS, TELEVISION & MOVIES..
I read about a book a week, and spend so much time at our local library, they know me by name. Sally Rooney is my favorite author. I could read her books time and time again.
I can recite almost all FRIENDS episodes and absolutely love a good drama series. Currently: Yellowstone
Where the Red Fern Grows was my first chapter book that I read all by myself, and it made me cry so hard. I love that story. Jonathan got me the original edition for my birthday one year.
I love a Tom Hanks & Meg Ryan duo — You’ve Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle are two of my all time favorite movies.
